Latitude D630 - reset to original factory settings.

This question is not answered

I'm trying to reset my older model Latitude D630 back to factory specs, however I being told that there is no reset information on my computer.  I get this after I restart and hit F8 to get into the start menu, pick my language and sign-in.

I think this D630 was purchased in 2008.  It has Vista Premium Business.

Am I missing something?  Where should I search for this elusive file?

Thanks!

  • Hi Wonderlust,

If the hard drive of the system is replaced or if the operating system is reinstalled on the computer earlier then Dell factory image is removed from the system or the recovery image may have gone corrupt. You may try to perform a clean install of operating system using the recovery disks for Windows Vista. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/15MbdqC.

Please feel free to reply for any further assistance. I will be glad to assist you.

  • Hi Amogh,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I know this system is all original.  From the HD to the OS and even the ram hasn't been changed since it was new.  I have no idea where the original disk is that came with the computer.  Is there a way to get another one?  Or another option for restoring the system?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Wonderlust,

If you are not getting the 'Repair your Computer' option in <F8> menu, then the system recovery image has gone bad and system can't be restored back to factory settings. You may provide me the Service Tag and the name as it appears on the account via private message (click my username and then click Start Conversation) so I may access your records and check for further course of action.

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you.

    Thanks & Regards
