  • BrownGhostDK,

You can go to Dell.com and search for this part number 312-0448. It's the same kit for the Perc 5.6. and h700.

To replace it you would need to power down the server and remove the power cord, then hold the power button to drain the flea power. After that then simply remove and replace the battery. Power back up normally. The configuration is stored within the controller and wont be lost by replacing the battery. The batteries primary role is to provide the power needed to save the cache data in case the server goes down.

Let me know if this helps..

  • Also,

Why are you replacing the battery? What is making you believe it needs to be?

  • Server logs indicate its asking to be replaces, it has no power, and its not recharging..

Write cashe is in limited mode :(

  • Have you disconnected the battery, and reconnected, after a complete shutdown as described above? preferably using contact cleaner spray on the connections. Especially near seaboard areas, the contacts can lose connectivity...just a possibility, as the battery should last a good while.
