printer will not delete documents in queue

This question is not answered

Since yesterday I have a document in queue that is "deleting" but will not delete.  I have restarted my computer, unplugged my printer, stood on my head, touched my toes, and done everything imaginable (several times) and the document will not delete.  Today i thought i'd reinstall the printer and start over.  The system will not let me reinstall as long as the printer is busy.  How do i get past all this and start over.  Nothing new will print (it just stays in queue) until i get this resolved.

    Restart your computer.

     

    Run Delete Print Jobs This should remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

  • Open notepad

    Copy and paste the words, in between the lines, into notepad

    -------------------------------------------------

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    net stop spooler

    del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd

    del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl

    net start spooler

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    Save as DeletePrintJobs.cmd

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Now right click on it, left click run as administrator.

    Restart your computer.

  • To empty the print queue, stop the Print Spooler service and remove all pending print files.  

    You cannot delete any queued print jobs while the Print Spooler Service is running.

    To stop the Print Spooler Service, click Start, Run and in the box enter:

    services.msc

    Click OK to open the Services Applet.  

    Locate the Print Spooler Service, right click it and choose to Stop the Service.

    Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the following folder (assuming Windows is installed on your C drive):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS

    Delete all the queued print jobs in the PRINTERS folder (select and delete all the files) so the PRINTERS folder is devoid of pending print jobs.

    Restart your system to be sure everything is cleared up and that the Print Spooler Service restarts automatically on reboot.

    Now that you know how to get into the Services Applet, you can check and be sure The Status column of the Print Spooler Service is "Started" and that the folder where spooled print jobs go is really empty (until you print something else).

      If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

  • I am having exactly the same problem and I have tried everything (that you have).  Dell support can not be contacted at the moment or even yesterday afternoon!!!  Have you tried any of the suggestions below yet?

    You can run Delete Print Jobs then restart your computer to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue.

    What model printer do you have?

    What operating system is installed? Windows 7 or 8?

    What virus program and firewall are you using?
