Hello, My printer worked fine yesterday but today noting will print or copy. It is out of warranty so support will not help me. Any ideas? I already switched cartridges & cleaned the nozzels & still nothing.
Unplug the power cord. Please remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds then plug it back in. This resets any error message the printer is getting. Open the printer with the power on and take out the black cartridge and reseat it. Now do the same thing for the color cartridge and make sure it's seated properly. Now close the printer and it should print an alignment page.
If there is an error code or flashing, what is the error code?
What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?

I have seen a few issues where the person uses a non-Dell ink cartridge and/or tried to refill their ink cartridges.
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.
Thanks for posting back. Could you mark the verify answer(s) that helped you solve your problem, so if someone else searches the forums, they can see what you did to fix your problem(s).
Can you copy a document if you use the scanner glass?
No copying does not work either. Still completely blank pages.
Thanks very much for replying. I feel like I've had an arm cut off without it. (I use it for work)
Whoo Hoo.. That worked & it's working like normal again for now at least.
Do you think this is a sign that it's about to die? it is almost 4 years old & gets fairly heavy daily use.
I didn't have any error messages at all until I pluged it back in & then I got "right cartridge incorrect"
Not sure what that is about since I have not changed that in months but at least it seems to be solved now.
Thanks very very much for your help Rick. It's really helped imporve my day for sure!.
I'm having the same problem, with the 962 printer printing blank pages when I try to copy pages.
I've reset the cartriges (which are genuine dell cartridges), when the alignment page prints, the printer displayes
"Alignment page problem"
The other problem, which problems stems from this, is that the laptop, says that the "printer is not communicating".
I've had no joy sorting out the problem, can you help?

Means that the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge has a problem. Unplug the printer from the wall, then remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This resets any error message the printer is getting. Plug everything back in. Power on the printer and take out the black Dell series 5 ink cartridge, examine for tape and reseat it. Do the same for the color Dell series 5 cartridge. When you put the cartridge back in and close the printer. It should print an alignment page.
Any error messages?
In searching the forum I found this older thread. I am having the same issue - my 962 printer just started printing blanks all of a sudden. Seems to vary by program. I can't get anything from MS Word, but can get printouts in .ppt and sometimes I can get printouts in excel and from my browser. Nothing has changed with my setup, I am using primarily a Dell D620 with Windows XP.
Odd thing is that I notice that even when nothing prints, the 962 aio center indicates that ink is being depleted from the cartridges (yes they are dell cartridges and I have the same ones in there that I had in there before this started).
I tried the trick with the power cord and power brick and that didn't work. Then I uninstalled the printer entirely and reinstalled it with the new drivers from dell support site (I followed the info in another post about 962). Oddly enough, it printed the alignment page and the little graphic with the dell logo and the three boxes, numbered 1 2 3, and then with the pictures of the printing supplies at the bottom. But still nothing about of word.
Any help would be appreciated.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
After you restart your computer, open the Word Documnet you want to print. Click on file, print, then make sure the proper printer is selected.
There are no jobs stuck. And when I've had a stuck job in the past, the 962 just won't print. In this case, the pages come out, but they are (normally) blank.
Is there anything else I should try? Note that when I print to another printer (a Dell 1110) there are no problems.
Can you copy a document, when you put it under the glass? B&W and color?
Nope - can't copy either.
I did get one page earlier today. All subsequent print jobs have been blanks.
Usually most Dell Inkjet printers can copy without a computer. That's the way to tell if it's the printer or the drivers/firewall.
The test it to try to copy a document. B&W and color. If it works, then it's computer related. If it doesn't then it's usually a Dell Series cartridge.
I have the same problem. Blank copies. We only use it as a photocopiers so their is no problem with connections, etc. I tried all of the things above but it still doesn't work.
We replaced the ink cartridge and it won't align now either. It just prints two black lines at the top and then several blue lines following but not nearly as many lines as it usually prints for the alignment.
Our ink cartridges are not Dell they are ones we bought online that are refilled. We have bought from this company several times with no problems except that is always says we are low on ink.
