Inspiron N5110 HDMI port stopped working

This question is not answered

I cannot get my hdmi port to work with anything.  And this is was never a problem until about a month ago.  I've tried connecting several different tv's, multiple hdmi cables and even an hdmi to dvi cable to my external monitor.  I've read on the forums  about the same problem and the person was told they needed to update the drivers for the secondary graphics card, but first to determine whether it was an NVidia or ATI.  All I see under Display adapters is Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000.  I need help, this is driving me crazy.

Much Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  • Hi bhulsey3,

This system model is shipped with two types of Motherboards that is UMA and discrete. Since the display adapter is displaying only Intel HD graphics card, I suspect this system has UMA motherboard.
You may update the Intel graphics driver from the link below and check:

Let me know if this helps.

  • Ok, I tried and I get a notice that says windows found files with the same name, do you want to overwrite them.  I first tried saying yes and I get another popup so I tried saying no, same popup.  I've attached a screenshot so you can see.

  • Hi bhulsey3,

Thank you for the update and the picture. Let me know if the driver already installed on your computer is from the Dell support website.

I recommend you to uninstall the display driver from the Device manager and then install the driver provided earlier. Restart the system and also flash BIOS from the link given below:

Restart the system and check if the HDMI port responds. If the issue persists even with a known good HDMI cable and external monitor/TV, I suspect it is an issue with the port. Let me know the status to assist you further.
