Thank you for your time. I really appreciate the help, and I respect your Expertise. I bought a Inspiron MODEL number N5110 from Dell; and when I press the power button, it tries to power on and the power button stays white, but the screen is blank and nothing comes up at all. When I press the F8 button nothing happens. I can hear the fan start running for a couple seconds but then it shuts right off. I have four white lights at the bottom and two are lighting up. The power one to the left and the wireless one to the right are both lighting up. Also, I tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds, and that did not help any. So what's wrong?
Hi King Rex Rose,
Welcome to the Community,
Do you hear any beep sound when you turn on the system?
Press and hold down Fn key and while holding it down turn on the system.Wait for few seconds and release the Fn key.
This should ideally start the onboard diagnostics and if the diagnostics starts the system will emit beep sounds.
Please post back your findings and also is your system under warranty?

There is no beep sound.
I tried holding down the Fn key, powering on, and then releasing it a couple of seconds later and nothing happened. Also, I am not hearing any beeping sounds at all, or seeing anything on the screen at all. The screen is just blank, but the power button is staying lit white. It sounds like I hear something start to move and the fan kicks on, but then it stops moving and the fan kicks off in just a couple seconds with no beeping.
Try testing the LCD screen, press and hold D key ,turn on the system. It should ideally display few color screens indicating the LCD is fine.
If there is no change try connecting an external monitor to the system, turn on system and press Fn F8 together and check if you get display on the external monitor.
Thanks for the help. I tried holding down D before starting the laptop up, and it didn't do any good. I'm going to try and locate my cord right now, so I can hook up my old big Triniton monitor to it. If I can't find it in the rubble, I guess I'll have to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and buy one. I'll be looking..
Please post back after you try the external monitor.
Also is your system still under warranty?
The External monitor doesn't work. I tried hooking my other laptop up to the external monitor, and it worked, but this one does not. I even tried holding down the D key and that didn't work, and I tried pressing Fn + f8 and that did nothing too.
Sorry for delay in response.I was out of office due to my weekly off.
As per the findings it looks like an issue with the system board. However if you're comfortable you may try removing and reseating some of the components, such as Memory modules,HDD,Optical drive and keyboard.
If there is no change even after removing and reseating these components, then definitely it is an issue with the system board.
