Dell Inspiron m5030 7 beeps

This question is not answered
Hello. I have had this laptop for 2 years and have never had a problem. I went to start it up today and it started beeping 7 times. I went online to see if anyone els had this problem and it seems there has been alot of the same problems. I took the advise I seen on this site and took the battery out and the static power source and pressed the power button for 30 seconds. This did start up a 'startup fixing solution' and did try and fix it but the screen went blank and nothing els happened. I tried again and it gave me the option to restore the laptop but this done the same thing and the screen went black. Also before these options it gave me an option to start windows normally which done the same thing. I have just tried taking the battery out again and pressing the Button for 30 seconds and it has gone back to the 7 beeps with a blank screen. Any suggestions would be great full! Thanks

  • I have the same laptop.  Less then two years old.  I never let anyone use it, as it is my baby.  I stepped away from it to check on my dog, and when I came back the screen was black.  When I hit the power button, I get the seven beeps.  It is ridicoulus that a $500+ laptop would not last more then a year and a half!

  • Joke isn't it. Luckly I had product insurance otherwise I was told it could be around 160!!!  It should not be happening to a 500 pound laptop. I heard they are not admitting there is a fault with that specific model. Just got it back from them having it twice and it's still not working as it originally was. So might send it back. Does the blank screen sometimes, only had it twice happen to me since its been returned but no beeps. Turn it off and turn it back on and its fine. Had mine for a 21st birthday present so I pretty much take care of it aswell.

  • Hi patricklee17,

Does the system shut down automatically when the screen goes black or does it stay on without any display?

Try running the hardware diagnostics(tap F12 on start up,Dell logo, select Diagnostics) and post back error code/message if any.

Also private message me your system Service Tag number. To private message click on my user name and click start conversation.I will check on previous repair logs and get back to you.

  • I read this solution on another forum concerning the same problem.  I have an M5030 had the same 7 beeps.  Suggestion was to remove the motherboard, take out all of the plug-ins  (battery,  ram, cpu, graphics chips).    Make 4 two-inch aluminum foil balls to place under each corner of the motherboard and put the thing in a cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 minutes in an oven preheated to 385 degrees.  Open door and let cool for at least two hours.  It was worth a shot - AND WORKED PERFECTLY!

  • Roshan L... hope you are still working for Dell in this capacity. My Inspiron M5010, Service Tag:<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> ,   Express Service Code: <ADMIN NOTE: Express service code removed per privacy policy> is doing the same thing. 7 beeps on startup with blank screen. 7 beeps repeat continuously. Have tried removing battery and press and hold startup button for at least 30 seconds. Problem continues (7 beeps). Tried holding F12 key at startup... 7 beeps continues.

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks

  • Might as well throw it in the trash.  It is fried!  Mine was.  Dell computers last 1 to 2 years and they are done.  End of story.
