I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 some of the keys do not work like they should.
Basically what happens is I press a key and rather than typing the letter it types a number instead for instance when I press the letter J it types a number 1 instead. This only happens to a few keys the rest works fine. It happened one day day out of the blue after the laptop did not boot up properly.
I have switched keyboards to nother that I know is fully working but the same thing happens.
Has anyone else had any experience of this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Please check if the same problem occurs in safe mode (F8 during startup)? Also let us know if it occurs on all applications like Notepad/Word/e-mail etc.

Welcome to the Community. Did you connect an external keyboard to this system? I recommend you click on start, run, and type in osk and press enter to bring up the Onscreen Keyboard, try turning of Num Lock by clicking on NLK. Or try connecting an external keyboard to the laptop, and disable the num lock on the external keyboard, and restart your system.
Hope this helps.
