Service Tag For E6320

This question is not answered

I am looking to reset my service tag on a Dell E6320 but cannot find anyway to do it. I have tried asset_209.com and Asset.com as well as svrtag.exe and still no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Hi Dell-User-1873,

There are 2 ways to update/Enter the service tag on the computer:

Boot into BIOS. Restart the computer and tap F2 on Dell logo and enter the service tag in the service tag option.

    [OR]

Ensure you have followed below steps in order.

    1. Use the resource or portable bios cd.
    2. Boot from the disc
    3. Select the option --boot from cd
    4. Select exit to dos
    5. Default prompt will be for the cd (D:\ E:\ F:\)
    6. Type DIR to check if folder CSD exists on the cd or not. If it does then…
    7. Type CD CSD  Prompt will change to D:\CSD
    8. Type CD Tools Prompt will change to D:\CSD\Tools
    9. Type CD BIOS Prompt will change to D:\CSD\Tools\BIOS
    10. Type DIR to check the folder contents
    11.  Asset tag utility will be a file called ASSET206.COM, ASSET209.COM or similar .
    12.  Ex: Type ASSET209 /S ABC4321    assuming ABC4321 is the service tag

  • Hi,

I tried what you suggested and this is the error I Received:

ERROR: Cannot change the service tag. Please ensure the tag is in the correct format, and the setup password is disabled.

Can you provide any guidance on this? I looked in the BIOS Settings and it looked like all passwords were disabled or not set. Not sure what else I could not be doing correct. Please help.

    THanks
