Blue Screen on Inspiron 1721

This question is answered
Hello I have a blue screen Stop 0 x 0000007B etc at start up. I have tried pressing F12 when I see the Dell logo and run all the checks available but still get blue screen. I have taken to my local computer shop and they are unable to fix. said it has a RAID ARY 2 hard drive set up and they do not have the equipment to fix it! Any advice appreciated including if all else fails how to recover photos and word docs if this is possible? Thank you. (I am new to these forums so I hope this is posted in the right place.

  • If the system is set up with a RAID 0 array (two drives striped together), recovering the data will be very, very difficult -- if you need the data, contact a data recovery service such as www.drivesavers.com.  The cost will be high, but they should be able to do the recovery.

  • Thank you for a very prompt reply. Not the news I had hoped for. So is there no fix from dell? Obviously out of warranty but do Dell accept non-warranty repairs or data recovery?
  • Dell doesn't do data recovery.  Chances are, what has happened is that one of the two drives in a RAID 0 array has gone bad - when that happens, all access to both drives is lost.  If you really need the data back, you're about to be faced with a cost of well over $1,000 for data recovery.

The replacement of the drive(s) will not be expensive - data recovery, however, is.
