Windows 8 & USB 3.0

This question is answered

I just upgraded my Dell 14R to Windows 8 which seems to be a pretty nice OS; however, my Corsair Flash Voyager 3.0 isn't recognized in the USB 3.0 slots, works fine in USB 2.0 slots. First, Yellow Warning sign under Device Manager for the Cost Controller but now after uninstall/reinstall now Warning on USB Mass Storage Device. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the Host Controllers (Reneasas), all USB Mass Storage devices, BIOS update, shutdown system, unplugged, etc. to no avail. Worked flawlessly in Windows 7. Now what? Some sort of registry hack? Specific drivers for the jumpdrive? Kind of perturbed about this. Any help and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Smile

3°) a Wifi mouse receptor, a HD external disk Toshiba 1 TO usb 3.0

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Rocher24,

Thank you for providing all the answers. It looks like the Computer is working fine but the issue seems to be with the Emtec 16 GO USB 3.0. I request you to try this device on a different system and check if it works. If required you may have to format the flash drive and then check.

  • Hi Rocher24,

The Emtec 16 GO USB 3.0 is working fine on other computers but on the XPS 12 it doesn’t work. I am not sure if you have already tried formatting the drive, so please try formatting it on a different system and then try using it on the XPS system. If it still doesn’t work try if any other USB devices work on the XPS system.

Do let me know about the progress.

  • Hi Kiran K,

I have ask Emtec support so, they give me a process to format the memory key 3.0. The apply do not fonctionne. They say, "return it, may be damadge". The new one Emtec 16 G0 memory key Usb 3.0 have the strictly same problem. It do not be reconized one the Dell XPS 12 Duo, the same message, the same pb with the format apply of Emtec... And so on. I am waiting for my daughter's PC (this week) which have also usb 3. Does Dell prefere a memory key provider, able to fonctionne on my system ? Is my system damadge ?

I'll be back on few days.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Rocher24,

It is good that the USB has been replaced. However, I request you to check it on a different system and check if it works. We would be able to determine if the computer is faulty only after completing all the troubleshooting. Usually all the memory keys available in the market are good enough.

  • Hi Kiran K,

    I'm back with solution.

The new Emtec memory key 16 GO USB 3.0 is not recognised on Dell XPS ports. It is also not reconized on HP USB 3.0 port. It is working on HP USB 2.0 port. (rate of transfert above 12Mo/sec). The second Emtec memory key is not recognised by Emtec format apply.

On the two USB 3 ports of the Dell, I try to trannsfert among 6 GO of film files, from the external HD to the PC above 90 Mo/sec, from Pc to external HD among 85Mo, this velocity on the two ports. I think USB 2.0 rate of transfert is less than 30 Mo/sec.

Conclusion: I think Emtec memory key are bad.

I return it to provider and buy another mark.

Thank for your support Kiran K.

  • Hi Kiran K,

This is the answer from Emtec for the problem we talk about:

I buy an memory key  USB 3.0 Kingston HyperX 64 GO, it's work fine!

    Thanks for your support..

  • Hi Kiran K,
