How do I perform a factory restore on Dell Inspiron when I receive an error telling me "WinReLauncher.exe - Entry Point not Found?"

This question is not answered

Hello,

I recently had a virus and was able to successfully remove it from my computer; however, I am having problems when I try to restore the computer to original factory settings.

My goal is to do a full factory reset, but when accessing the "Repair My Computer" option from the F8 screen, I am given the following error:

"WinReLauncher.exe - entry point not found. The procedure point ?Get ESPPartition@CSTDisk@@QAE?AVCSTPartition@@XZ" could not be located in the dynamic link library STDisks.dll."

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron Mini laptop, model 1012.

I have already tried using Ccleaner and Glary Registry cleanup, both of which I downloaded from Cnet.

I would love any help that can be provided to me! Thanks so much in advance...

  • Hi,

Welcome to the Community. If you have the Windows Disc, boot of the disc by pressing the the F12 key at the Dell Logo, select cd/dvd and press enter, and press an key to boot from CD. Let it load and once it comes to the Install Now screen, click on Repair My Computer at bottom left, sign in using your user name, to access the recovery options.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • I got the same error when trying to run Dell DataSafe to restore my pc to its factory state.  I tried running a Windows 7 Repair but this did not resolve the DataSafe error.  I fixed the DataSafe error by uninstalling Dell DataSafe, and then downloading it from http://dslbchecker.datasafelocalbackup.com/dslchecker-en.html and then reinstalling it.
