computer wont recognize new hard drive

This question is not answered

I have a Dell Intel xps 400, the hard drive failed and I bought a new one, well now the computer will not recognize it, it is a WD Green 500gb hard drive, I have checked all of the connections and it is installed properly. I would appreciate any help with this mess.  Catherine Valentino [ADMIN NOTE: Email ID removed per TOU policy] Crying

  • What do you mean when you say it won't recognize it? It doesn't show up in the BIOS or the computer just won't boot from it?

  • I have the same problem with a Samsung 500 GB for my latitude D630.  Message indicates that I may need the correct driver, but I do not know how to get it.

  • Hard drives don't need special drivers; the drivers are bundled with Windows. If Windows says it can't find a driver, I suggest deleting the INFCACHE.1 file and rebooting.
