Dell error code 2000-0142

I have a Dell Studio XPS running Windows 7.  When I try to boot up normally the computer freezes up and I get a black screen.  It is a 2010 model and the service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>.  When I run the diagnostic I get Dell error code 2000-0142 which I understand represents a problem with the hard drive.  What should I do?

  • You need to replace the drive -- you'll need a new, 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook hard drive.
