I have a Dell Inspiron 2020 all in one with Windows 8 (non touch screen) and it will not power on. The power light on the power button blinks a couple of times upon pressing it and it is amber in color. It happened a week ago and I unplugged everything and let it sit. I tried again the next day and it worked but didn't last long. Now it will not power on at all. I saw another thread going about this similar issue. Conveniently, the computer is a month out of parts warranty (also noticed the other gentlemen with this problem happened to be shortly out of warranty, suspicious). Please help me with this issue, I cannot find a power supply replacement anywhere and according to the other thread, it may not even fix the problem. Suggestions?
I apologize for the inconvenience that has been caused to you. There is no such known issue with this system, these are machine and may fail over a period of time. However, you may follow the below mentioned steps to isolate the issue and fix it.
Since the system is not under warranty you may refer to the link http://dell.to/1coLzuz to get in touch with the Dell's Expired Warranty Support team if you are in USA. If you are in a different region, go to http://dell.to/15qqGcr select the country/region from the top, scroll down and click on 'Contact Dell Sales' to get the contact information.
Well, I tried all that you mentioned above and had no success. It seems pretty obvious that my problem lies within either the motherboard or PSU, which is truly unfortunate because I cannot find the PSU anywhere and the motherboard his half the cost of this machine brand new. Any suggestions?
I understand that motherboard is an expensive commodity, I would recommend you to refer to the links shared by me in my last reply to get in touch with Dell's Expired Warranty Support team if you are in USA or Dell Sales Team if you are in different region to purchase the parts.
If you wish you may check local computer hardware stores as well, if they have the parts available. Make sure that you buy genuine parts.
Hope this helps.
