  • Most of us recommend going to Crucial.com to get the correct specs for memory for your model. If you want, you can buy it there and get good prices and support or just compare the specs to the Kingston memory. Make sure your model can run 2gb chips and 8 gb max.

  • Thank You Mary G, Crucial.com only propose its memory and I cannot check if my Optiplex 755 supports Kingston KHX8500D2K2 ram.

  • Dell validated 8GB of DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) and DDR2-800 (PC6400) non-ECC memory. DDR2-1066Mhz PC2-8500/8600 is not supported.

  • Actually PC2 8500 is supported on the tower.

The reason I think the ram will not work is that it does not say LOW Density 256 meg X 64 INTEL Compatable AND its higher than 1.8v

    which is also a problem.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.
