Dell Dimension 8250 Reports "System Battery Voltage is Low"

This question is not answered

Bought my wife a Dell Inspiron 545MT to replace her hand-me-down Dimension 8250. I replaced the video and audio cards in the 8250 and added a new HD so that I can put Windows 7 on it and have it available for my grandkids when they come over. When I powered up I got the message: "System Battery Voltage is Low." What is that telling me? Do I need to replace a battery? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • You need to replace the battery on the motherboard. It's a  3-volt CR2032 lithium coin cell. About $2-$3 at discount stores.

Run BIOS setup (press F2 before Windows starts to load) and copy down all the settings.

    Then power off and unplug

Press/hold power button on the tower for ~15 sec

Open the case and replace the motherboard battery. Be sure to install the new one right-side-up.

  • Me again...

After you replace the battery, reboot and press F2 to open BIOS setup. Make sure everything is set the way you wrote down before removing the battery. If not, make any necessary changes, save the changes and exit setup.

    Done!
