Is it possible that i can upgrade my m17x r4 graphics card? I currently have a geforce gtx 675m and i realised that it will not be able to keep up with new games like crysis 3. i have an i7-3630QM CPU and an 8gb ram ,these are fine. I need help in where to purchase graphics cards and how to physically put them into my system (i will probably not be able to do this myself). i have seen graphics cards such as the 680m on websites like ebay, nvidia and amazon but it seems too big for my laptop and i do not know if they are compatible with my laptop. Also i have read about overclocking but this could potentially lead to overheating and other problems so i am not really considering this.
I sent you a friend request, please accept it and send me a PM with your service tag and contact information and I'll help you out.

May I know how to upgrade as well?
I was conned into the 675m as the dell sales rep told me that the HD7970 wasn't a stable card but looking on utube just about all are saying the HD7970 is excellent and in most games gets higher frame rates than the 680m.so after having my alienware M17X R4 for only 4 months if that of owning my gaming laptop I'm going threw upgrade process (just waiting for a part to come in)I'm upgrading to the HD7970 its costing me £430 for the card new heatsink and it to be fitted by dell engineer, expensive but compared to the 680m which was going to cost £730 and as I've said the HD7970 gets equal or in most cases better fps nvidia do have better drivers and can be overclocked more stabley but their is no way I would pay an extra £300 for that,I was going to go down the root buying a card from eBay but their are so many things that can go wrong like different size cards or simply not working and I don't want a £2000 paper weight, hope this helps you I no its been an expensive lesson for me.If I do buy another Alienware in the future I will be going with my research and not with a dell sales rep trying to get rid of old cards like the 580m which the 675m really is

Thanks a lot for your explanation. So I take your answer is a YES that the graphic card can be replace in the future for further upgrade.
Getting the parts from Dell is it much more reliable and safe rather buying from out source?
Actually I just get my Alienware M17X R4 with GTX 660M only due to limited budget.
Just hope that in future, when I have extra fund, I able to upgrade rather buying a new one.
Yes Alienware laptops are made to be completely upgradeable if you have any problems when u want to upgrade I would be happy to pass you onto the Alienware technician who is dealing with mine, just leave me a message on here

Hi Natalia, can you help me out too? I have an AW M17XR4 and want to upgrade my GTX680M to a GTX780m. Is that possible for me? I bought my Alienware from Dell Germany.
I have a i7-3740QM @2.70 GHz (8 CPU) with 32 Gb RAM but my graphic card to bad. and was thinking to upgrade it to GEFORCE GTX TITAN BLACK.
Please let me know can this be done
it urgent as I will be leaving soon
I have a m17x r4 with amd hd 7970m video card bought in later 2012 (service tag 1q86fv1). Right now, the laptop keeps giving me black screen after installing driver for that video card, intel 4000 on my laptop is working just fine.
I assume it is a video card failure case, am I right?
If it is dead, I am thinking if I could buy another video card to put it on, like a nvidia 970m ([View:www.ebay.com/.../301426690365]).
Do you think it is worth it or possible? Please let me know at your convenience.
Thank you very much for your knowledge and help!
